The Galiwango Film was created to raise awareness to the brutal slaughtering of the Mountain Gorillas that call Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC their home. The Film is still in production and we need as much help as we can get to pay for the equipment, software and labor that is going into the production. It’s an ambitious venture, but we do believe that it is worth every minute that we have spent so far in telling the story of the struggles and triumphs of the Mountain Gorillas

The Film was written in Luganda, which is the most widely spoken local language in Uganda and the title is “Galiwango: Obulamu Bwekisodde “ (Galiwango: The Life of A Gorilla). The final film will have English Sub-titles and plans are in place to create a Kinyarwanda and Swahili version.

The purpose of this Film is to reach out to the Youth, to sensitize them to the plight of the last remaining 786 mountain gorillas, as well as the hard work done by the rangers as they go about protecting these endangered wildlife treasures from poachers, the occasional rebel remnant groups and the inadvertent traps. I am also striving to shine a light to the impact of the deforestation of the Virunga and Bwindi jungles for the illegal charcoal trade, on local communities like the Batwa and the wildlife.

I do believe that as the stewards of this great Ape, we are the ones who should be on the front line of raising awareness and teaching our children, both young and old, the value of conserving wildlife that is unique to our region.

MOTION CAPTURE SUIT: $52,000
In order to speed up our animation workflow and to meet the films animated character goal we need a Motion Capture System from Measurand: Cost = $52,0000 for the ShapeWrap III Plus – with fully integrated hand and finger motion capture. http://www.motion-capture-system.com/plus.html

Our goal is to make the the Gorilla character as convincing as possible and the best way to achieve that within a short period of time and with limited man power, is to use a motion capture suit. Do please consider sponsoring the acquisition of this hardware.

RENDERING HARDWARE: $9500

We need at least 8 Work Stations to speed up the rendering of the images from the animations we create. The budget for that is $9500. The more machines we have the better and the faster the turn around. The burden is rendering as fast as we can and at a High Definition resolution. The nature of the process is such that there will be fixes that will need to be made a long the way. And the more machines available to do the re-rendering, the faster the fixes will be made and the closer we will get to meeting all the film deadlines.
